Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former coach Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after that period of that year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to win a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's counter-punching approach and recurring outbursts on court had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was over.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play positively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the final five games to gain the advantage.

Both players traded service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet saved four initial opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
